Mumbai rains to pick up pace again as Depression in Bay revives Monsoon

Mumbai have been recording light Monsoon rains but any significant spell has remained far and few for last many days. However, after a long break Mumbai rains are all set to make a comeback.

All thanks to the development of a fresh weather system in Bay of Bengal, which at present is as a depression over Odisha. The system is presently centered at latitude 20°N and longitude 85E, around 27 km southwest of Bhubaneswar. According to Skymet, the system is likely to move further inland in west-northwest direction.

This depression would be responsible for reviving the off-shore trough, which can be now seen running from South Maharashtra to Kerala coast. Not only this, it would be instrumental in strengthening the moist westerly winds all along the Konkan &Goa coast including Mumbai.

In wake of this, we can expect moderate Monsoon rains to lash the state capital during the next 24 to 48 hours. Few places might also see isolated heavy spells during same time span.

With these showers approaching, we can expect slight drop in temperatures, leading to some pleasant mornings and evening. However, afternoons would continue to be warm and humid.
