Mumbai rains made a comeback once again over the city after remaining dry for a long time. From the last 48 hours, Monsoon showers are drenching the ‘entertainment city’. In fact, on September 14, heavy rains of 64 mm lashed Mumbai.
Though the intensity of rains comparatively has reduced over the capital of Maharashtra in the last 24 hours, the weather remained pleasant. Moreover, the mercury levels also were beneath the 35-degree mark.
In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Friday, the Santa Cruz observatory in Mumbai recorded 4 mm of rain, whereas, the Colaba observatory witnessed light rains of 2 mm.

As per Skymet Weather, the cyclonic circulation over coastal Karnataka that has given rains over Mumbai has become insignificant. Due to which, rains have reduced considerably. However, a fresh cyclonic circulation can be marked over the eastern Arabian sea and adjoining Konkan.
In the wake of this, rainfall activity is likely to witness a gradual increase in the northern parts of Konkan also including over Mumbai in the next 48-72 hours. Few spells of rains are also anticipated today and then Mumbai rains will witness a gradual increase.

However, after two-three days, Mumbai rains will once again witness a sudden reduction. Thereafter, Mumbai will once again have to deal with the almost dry weather.
Until date, Mumbai has recorded a total of 135.4 mm of rainfall as against its monthly mean of 312.3 mm. With almost half a month left and predictions of some good rains, it will be worth noticing if the city of dreams will be able to surpass its daunting monthly target.
