Mumbai rains to lessen; light showers likely

Monsoon rains have kept the weather of Mumbai pleasant from last many days. Varying from moderate to heavy and extremely heavy showers, Mumbai has seen different shades of Monsoon. In fact, after the fag end of June gave some heavy showers, July too arrived with a very hefty sum of 93 mm of rains.

Since then, though the intensity of rains dropped, rains kept on pouring over Mumbai. However, the last 24 hours were dry for the city with only a few light rainy traces and somewhat similar weather condition is expected to endure over Mumbai.

As per Skymet Weather, the Monsoon Surge is weak and due to which the trough along the West Coast has also weakened. This trough is seen moving up to South Kerala. As the system is weak and no other significant weather system is present over the region, the rain activity is likely to reduce over the capital city of Maharashtra.

Thus, Mumbai will have to manage with scattered light rains for the next 48 hours. The chances of heavy rains are bleak over the city at least for the next 24 to 48 hours. On account of the absence of rains, the temperatures will also scale up and due to moisture incursion winds from the Arabian Sea, humidity levels resulting in sultry weather will continue to prevail. Though mild breezy weather can be anticipated during the early morning and late evening hours.

The interior regions of Maharashtra will have to settle with light rains only.
