Mumbai rains continued during the last 24 hours as well, wherein Santa Cruz Observatory recorded 29 mm of rain, while Colaba observed 51 mm in a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday. This trend is still continuing as moderate spells have been going in many parts of the city and suburbs.
According to the Weathermen at Skymet, Mumbai rains may slightly increase today and many areas are likely to observe moderate spells of rain with one or two intense or sharp spells. However, these showers would be short-lived and thus would not result in any massive traffic jam, but some chaos as to water-logging in the low lying areas or minor traffic disturbance cannot be ruled out. Hence, precautions must be taken while stepping out.
As heavy downpour is not in sight, no major hindrance is likely in commuting to school, college or office.
These rainfall activities would once again subside by tomorrow, leading to an increase in the temperatures and sultry weather conditions. Moreover, after this episode, we do not expect any significant rainfall activity until the end of the month over the city.
September 2019 so far has seen some record-breaking Mumbai rains and looking at the current scenario, it doesn’t seem like Monsoon is in any mood to leave the city before the second week of October.
