Mumbai rains to get even more intense after 24 hours

After about a week of dry spell in Mumbai, rains did put up a show. These showers first began as light rains over some parts. However, in the last 24 hours, these showers were slightly more intense with some parts of the city of Mumbai witnessing heavy showers as well.

In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Saturday, the Colaba observatory in Mumbai recorded a whopping 54 mm of rainfall. Moderate showers to the tune of 17 mm were also seen at the Santa Cruz observatory during the same time frame.

These post Monsoon showers can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation which is persisting over Odisha coast and is moving in a westward direction. Not only this, a trough is extending from this system up to Coastal Karnataka. Simultaneously, a trough of low is also over Konkan and Goa region.

As per weathermen at Skymet Weather, these rainfall activities are expected to continue over Mumbai for quite some time now. In fact, during the next 24 hours, these showers will be light to moderate in intensity. However, thereafter, there will be an increase in the rainfall activity and moderate showers with isolated heavy rains for the coming days.

Due to these rains, temperatures will settle in the lower range only and comfortable weather conditions will prevail over the maximum city.
