Southwest Monsoon has made a late arrival over the city of Mumbai on June 25 by about two weeks from its scheduled arrival of June 11. However, the onset was with a loud bang wherein Mumbai recorded 176 mm on the first day of Monsoon. In the last 24 hours, Mumbai recorded 47 mm of rains. The city has recorded about 256 mm, half of its monthly normal of 526 mm. In the first ten twelve days, rains were very less.
Now also, Mumbai is expected to see some rains of varied intensity. Rains will vary between moderate and heavy. Today, we can expect moderate rains which will increase tomorrow.
Day after, tomorrow rain intensity is expected to increase and three digit rains are likely as the low pressure area will move closer to Mumbai. There is a wide possibility of Mumbai reaching the monthly normal as the rest of the month is all set to see heavy showers.
