Southwest Monsoon made an onset over the city of Mumbai, but so far the city has not even seen three digit rains and in the coming days also, it does not seem likely. Mumbai has so far received 230.2 mm against the monthly mean of 493.1 mm, which is not even half of the usual June figures as of now.
In the last ten years, 2014 was the only year when the rainfall did not reach three digit in June and settled at 87.3 mm. After that, the lowest was in 2012 June wherein 298 mm of rain was recorded. This time, it does not even seem that we will be able to meet this figure, and June 2022 could be the second lowest in the last ten years.
Four more days of June are left, and only light Mumbai rains with a couple of moderate showers are expected today and tomorrow. On June 29, some moderate rains can be seen but not enough to cross the total of 290 mm as well, and Mumbai may close at 250 mm.
