After a prolonged dry spell, Mumbai rains did make an appearance. Yesterday also, Colaba observed 11 mm of rains while rainfall activity has been seen in the morning hours of today as well. In fact, the western suburbs have received rains during the morning hours.
The Cyclonic Circulation persisting over Saurashtra region is now tilting southwards with height and we expect the Monsoon surge to become active over Konkan and Goa including parts of Mumbai and suburbs.
Light to moderate rains are likely to be seen in the city of Mumbai during the next two to three days. The possibility of a couple of sharp showers for very short duration cannot be ruled out.
Thereafter, rains may see an increase with the intensity being heavy in some parts between September 3 and 5. However, very heavy rains are ruled out from the city and rains will not be as heavy to have caused any problems in terms of intense flooding or water logging.
The weather which has been humid, hot and sultry is likely to improve to some extent and slightly pleasant weather conditions are expected to be seen over the city of Mumbai in the coming days.
