Rain grinds Mumbai to a halt. Monsoon rains disrupt lives of people as roads become waterlogged, forcing people to seek difficult and futile ways to reach offices, schools to remain shut and life, in short, to remain crippled. Just one day of heavy Monsoon rains and Mumbai – the skyscrapercity kissing rain bearing clouds- converts into a village flooded with water.

While thousands of Mumbaikars eagerly wait for the arrival of Monsoon in Mumbai so that they can shun their umbrellas to soak in the rain and be least bothered about the stale of their clothes, the arrival of Monsoon in full swing converts every experience into a harsh reality.

While the pre-Monsoon showers enable the city to done a romantic look, indulge in some hot piping chai and snacks and other foods to eat during Monsoon, just one spell of heavy Monsoon rains shatters this dream within a span of few hours. So much so that even Bollywood celebs and models cannot resist from opining about the apathetic situation in Mumbai caused due to negligence of Mumbai civil authorities.

The rooftop restaurant in Mumbai and interesting things to do on a rainy day somehow take a backseat once heavy Monsoon rains hit the financial capital of India. Every Monsoon, rains expose the real picture of Mumbai where drains are overflowing and waterlogged roads resemble a small pond. Every year, there is a new claim and every year, unlike the last one, roads remain waterlogged for hours.

Will Mumbai ever be rain-ready? Is flood-free Monsoon possible in Mumbai?

So if the roads outside your house are waterlogged and you are under house arrest, watching the fat raindrops pouring in their own rhythm on the window pane can be a best way to enjoy Monsoon in Mumbai.
