Mumbai rains had been intense for the past few days. In fact, showers have been heavy enough for the city to be able to see over 100 mm of rainfall. Moreover, the first day of the month witnessed hefty showers of 375 mm of rainfall.
In the last 24 hours also, heavy rains were seen for the city of Mumbai with Santa Cruz recording 50 mm of rains and Colaba observed 74 mm of rains.
With heavy rains in the first ten days of July, Mumbai has easily already surpassed its monthly normal in the first ten days of the month itself. Until today, 865 mm of rains against its monthly average of 840.7 mm of rains.
In fact, if we look at the last ten years also, there have been various occasions when the city has seen four digit rains in the month of July with the highest being in 2014 at 1468.5 mm.
Now, talking about what is in store for Mumbaikars, rains in Mumbai will see a drop for now as the Monsoon trough has shifted towards the foothills of the Himalayas. A break Monsoon condition is on the card for the country wherein Mumbai rains will remain on the milder side for at least about a week now.
