Mumbai Rains

Mumbai rains had remained absent for more than half the month of June and residents were missing the rainfall action. Monsoon 2019 had made a delayed onset over the city of Mumbai, which arrived on June 25 instead of its usual date of June 10.

Despite Monsoon arriving, Mumbai rains had remained far away from the city. However, since yesterday, Mumbai rains made a grand comeback only increasing today. Mumbaikars woke up to a typical Monsoon morning with rains, cloudy and overcast sky conditions.

Rainfall in Mumbai has been heavy since the morning and Santa Cruz has finally recorded its first three digit rains of the season, and that too in just 9 hours. In the last 9 hours, from 8:30 am to 5:30 am, Santa Cruz observatory recorded a whopping 140 mm of rainfall.

These heavy showers have wreaked havoc over the city with many areas being waterlogged, Mumbai local tracks in some parts were also filled with water. Traffic snarls have been another problem that Mumbaikars did face. The worst was the Uber and Ola surges which were sky high and at least five times the actual amount.

Now, Mumbai rains are likely to continue during the evening and night hours as well. Moreover, heavy rains are expected to be seen tomorrow as well.
