Mumbai rains reduce, to make a comeback soon

Mumbai rains had made a comeback over the city. However, rains have now reduced and during the last 24 hours, also light rains occurred over Mumbai. After the arrival of Southwest Monsoon, heavy showers were observed all around the city and normal life was affected to some extent. The last heavy showers for the city was recorded on June 17. However, rain intensity has once again reduced over Mumbai and suburbs.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Santa Cruz observatory of Mumbai recorded rain to the tune of 2.4 mm. In the same time frame, Colaba also recorded light rain to the tune of 2 mm.

Talking about the nearby areas of Mumbai city, Alibagh recorded 2 mm of rain and Harnai 46 mm.

Now, we expect almost dry weather to continue over the city for at least next three days. Even though isolated light rains in few pockets cannot be ruled out.

The off-shore trough which was running from Konkan & Goa to Kerala has weakened and now can be seen extending from South Konkan to Kerala.

Further, the off-shore trough will once again become active over Maharashtra Coast around June 23, 24 and rain intensity will be seen increasing during this period. We expect light to moderate showers to continue over Mumbai between June 23 to June 28. In fact, after June 26, heavy showers may be seen.
