Mumbai’s administration has finally come up with an advisory and is requesting the Mumbaikars not to step out of the house until and unless it is really urgent, or god forbid if some emergency comes up. Torrential rains have drowned Mumbai and since last night it has been raining profusely.
The Maharashtra government has declared a public holiday considering the forecast of heavy rainfall. Our experts have extended a caution that around 11.53 a.m. today on July 2, 2019, high tides of about 5 meters high will be a sight. People are kindly requested to stay inside their homes.
According to the current records, around sixty people have been injured and over twenty have been killed after a wall collapsed in Malad’s Kurar area. The injured have been moved to Shatabdi Hospital.
Indian Navy has deployed various teams to provide assistance to rain hit and stranded people, in the Kurla area following a request by BMC. After more than twenty killed in Malad's Kurar, the adjoining wall also collapsed on shanties. Several people are feared to be trapped. The NDRF team has reached the spot and the rescue operation is on. About 1000 people have been shifted to safety with the help of NDRF, fire brigade, Naval teams as well as local volunteers.
To this, Maharashtra’s Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has expressed his grief and mentioned on his twitter account that he is in pain to know about the loss of lives in Malad wall collapse incidence. He also mentioned that Rupees Five Lakhs will be given to the kin of the deceased.
A few days back as well people died due to electrocution and got injured after a wall collapsed in Dadar.
