Mumbai rains which remained absent for almost June have picked up pace now and showers have been lashing the city for the last 24 hours. Santa Cruz saw 140 mm of rainfall in just 9 hours, and now in the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Santa Cruz saw 235 mm of rains.
Now also, as per weathermen, rainfall activity in the city of Mumbai is expected to continue today as well. In fact, since the morning hours, it has been continuously raining in many parts of the city of Mumbai.
Rains will see some reduction tomorrow and may see some respite from the ongoing rains. However, today, the city will continue to see some rainfall.
This is the second highest 24-hour June rainfall that the city saw in the last 10 years. The highest rains were seen last on June 19, 2015 to the tune of 283.4 mm. The year 2015 was a drought year but Mumbai June rainfall was recorded at a whopping 1106.7 mm, which is more than double the normal of 493.1mm of rainfall.
So far this year, the city of Mumbai has recorded 424.3 mm and with the current rainfall scenario, it looks like the city may be able to reach and even surpass its monthly mean.
