Monsoon in Mumbai to be delayed, Pre Monsoon season to be deficient

Skymet released its Monsoon 2019 onset dates which says that the arrival of Monsoon will be delayed by three to four days. Thus, Monsoon 2019 will reach the state of Kerala only around June 4 with an error margin of +/-2 days.

Thereafter, the progress of Monsoon will be sluggish, due to which Monsoon which usually makes an onset over Mumbai and its adjoining areas around June 8 and 10 will be delayed by four to five days.

Meanwhile, Pre Monsoon activity will commence around the city of Mumbai around June 7 and gradually, the intensity will increase. By June 14, we expect Monsoon to mark its onset over Mumbai. Thus, Mumbai will have to wait for at least 20-25 days for good rainfall activities.

Talking about the Pre Monsoon season this time, the weather of Mumbai has remained mostly dry for the past many days. Although temperatures are settling near normal levels with minimums settling marginally below normal. Now also, no change in weather conditions is expected for the next three days or so. Thereafter, May 19 onward, temperatures are likely to increase by a couple of degrees. Weather is likely to remain dry for at least one week.

Light rainfall is likely to occur over the city of Mumbai by May 25 and 26. Thereafter, weather will once again become dry. Thus, significant Pre Monsoon rains are not expected over the city of Mumbai and adjoining areas during the month of May.

Thus, May will remain rain deficient, moreover, in a nutshell, Pre Monsoon will remain deficient for the city of Mumbai.
