Mumbai rains took the front seat as soon as Southwest Monsoon 2018 made an onset over the commercial capital of the country. Monsoon had arrived over Mumbai a day before its scheduled date. Heavy rains were witnessed over the city with three digit rainfall activity over Mumbai on one of the days.

Since then, rains have not taken a complete backseat over the city of Mumbai and showers of varied intensity have continued to lash the maximum city. The last 24 hours were quite rainy for the city of Mumbai.

In fact, in a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Colaba in Mumbai recorded a whopping 62 mm of rains while Santa Cruz saw 52 mm of rains.

With this, the city has already recorded over 400 mm of rains against its June average of 493.1 mm of rains.

Now, as per weathermen at Skymet Weather, rains will be light during the next 24 hours. However, one or two moderate spells of rains cannot be ruled out.

Rains will once again pick up pace on June 21, slightly increasing on June 22 and becoming intense. However, they will once again take a backseat and increase between June 25 and 27 wherein heavy showers are expected.

Thus, with more rains in offing for Mumbai, the city is expected to surpass its monthly mean well before the month comes to an end.
