Rains began during the late evening and night hours at many parts of the city and adjoining districts such as Alibag.

In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Colaba observatory of Mumbai recorded heavy rain to the tune of 37 mm. Meanwhile, in the same time frame, Santa Cruz recorded light rain of 9 mm.

As per Skymet Weather, rains had reduced over Mumbai as the offshore trough had shifted southwards towards Coastal Kerala and Karnataka. The trough has once again oscillated northwards and is lying near Konkan and Goa coast and adjoining Mumbai.  Therefore, Mumbai witnessed Monsoon spells in the past day

In fact, we expect rains to continue and even increase in intensity. Mainly moderate intensity Monsoon rains with one or two heavy spells are likely to continue over Mumbai until June 19. These showers will not be continuous in nature. On and off spells would continue. The sky conditions would be mainly cloudy to overcast. Waterlogging will be experienced in the low lying areas. Otherwise, panic situation is not likely to occur.
