Mumbai rains had wreaked havoc over the commercial capital of the country with back to back hefty showers for four consecutive days. So much so that the residents had been waiting for the rains to take a break which they did during the last 48 hours.
The last two days have seen light rains only. In fact, during the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Santa Cruz observatory recorded a mere 3 mm of rains. Colaba also saw similar conditions with the rains being at 4 mm there.

However, today, rainfall has once again picked up pace over the city of Mumbai. So much so that, light to moderate rains have already begun over the city. These showers are expected to continue over Mumbai today as well.
Thereafter, the intensity of rains is expected to increase once again and moderate rainfall activity with a few heavy spells of rains may occur tomorrow as well as the day after that. Thus, Mumbaikars are likely to see a rainy weekend yet again, which has been the case since a long time.
The comeback of these Mumbai rains will occur because of two weather systems, one of them being the off shore trough along the West Coast. Along with this, the cyclonic circulation which has come up in South Gujarat region, is expected to become more marked in the next 24 hours which will cause more rains over the city of Mumbai.
Temperatures are expected to reduce over Mumbai as rains will pick up pace resulting in comfortable weather conditions over the maximum city.
