Ever since the beginning of August, Mumbai rains have remained on the lower side. Although the city has been receiving rains every day, but any significant rainy spell has not occurred till now.
According to the rainfall data, city has been recording of light intensity only, wherein it managed to see double digit rainfall merely on six occasions.
Last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Mumbai saw 25 mm of rain, which is the highest amount of rain in the month. With this, the city has recorded total 157 mm of rainfall against the monthly average of 587 mm. It has just managed to surpass lowest rainfall amount recorded in the last decade that stands at 153 mm.
We are afraid that the city might not see any significant rainfall in the coming days as well. The remaining days of August are likely to record on and off life rains only.
According to Skymet Weather, no significant weather system is likely to affect Mumbai in the next few days and subsequently, the offshore trough along the West Coast would also remain inactive.
There is a system prevailing over the neighbouring areas of Mumbai, but it is quite weak to impact any weather over the city. In wake of this, Mumbai is most likely to end up far below the normal rains.
