The famous three-digit Monsoon rains have made a comeback over Mumbai once again. After recording scattered showers earlier this week, Monsoon has once again become active over the region.

In span of 21 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, the maximum city has recorded 138 mm of rain.

All thanks to the formation of the new weather system in west-central Bay of Bengal that has infused fresh Monsoon surge over the Coastal Maharashtra. The system is presently prevailing over west-central and northwest Bay of Bengal, adjoining the coastal areas of South Odisha and North Andhra Pradesh.

According to Skymet Weather, the system is moving westwards at fast pace and likely to move closer to the Konkan and Goa region soon.

With the system retaining its strength, moderate to heavy showers will continue over Mumbai during the next 24 to 48 hours, predict weathermen. However, these rains will be intermittent in nature.

So far, the city has recorded 360.5 mm of rain as compared to its monthly average rainfall of 312.3 mm. Now with more rains in offing, the rain surplus of the city is likely to go increase even further.

For the last three consecutive years, Mumbai had failed to achieve its monthly mean.
