Heavy Monsoon rains have made a comeback over Mumbai once again on Tuesday morning. For the last many days, the city has been recording on and off light showers only.

However, weather conditions changed on Tuesday and rain bearing clouds were seen engulfing entire city since early morning hours only.

In span of nine hours from 8:30 am till 5:30 pm, Santa Cruz Observatory at Mumbai has recorded 67 mm of rain, while Colaba Observatory saw 22 mm of rain. Moreover, heavy Monsoon showers are still going on over the state capital. We expect, moderate to heavy showers are likely to continue for another five to six hours.

According to Skymet Weather, a fresh Monsoon surge is affecting the region and active Monsoon current is seen over South Coastal Gujarat and North Coastal Maharashtra.

With this, weather conditions remain favourable for good Monsoon rains to continue over both the regions including Mumbai. During the next 3-4 days, mainly moderate showers will be seen over many parts of Mumbai, with few heavy spells.

Till now, the city has recorded 600 mm of rain against the monthly average rainfall of 799.8 mm. However, with five days still in hand, chances are quite high that Mumbai will be able to surpass this daunting target.
