In the last 10 days of June, Mumbai received good and heavy rain. These heavy rains helped the city to surpass its monthly average quite easily. These hefty rains continued in the month of July but only till July 3.
Thereafter, the Monsoon rains have left Mumbai like rains usually leave the deserts of India. In July the incessant Mumbai rains were nowhere to be seen except July 19-20. Till the morning of July 26, Mumbai has received rainfall of 599.8 mm and its monthly average rainfall for July stands at 799.7 mm.
It seemed impossible for the rains to achieve or surpass the monthly average but after some unrelenting rainfall in the last 24 hours from 08:30 AM on July 26 to 08:30 AM July 27, the target seems achievable. The actual rainfall for the city of Mumbai stands at 668.2 mm.
This means in the last 24 hours, the Maximum City has received 68.4 mm of rainfall. These rains have lashed the city after a week. These heavy rains can be attributed to the off-shore trough that gained some muscle from the persisting cyclonic circulation over West Madhya Pradesh.
This rainfall is expected to last till the end of July, so good news is in store for the people in Mumbai this week.
