The financial capital of the country, Mumbai - woke up to moderate Monsoon rains today morning after a prolonged dry and hot spell. Even though the arrival of Southwest Monsoon was delayed over the city but finally the wait is over and Mumbaikars are all set to witness intense Monsoon showers in the coming days.
According to many media reports, heavy Monsoon rains in Mumbai have led to waterlogging and flooding in parts of the city, leading to heavy traffic congestion on many roads. Major waterlogging was witnessed in the Dharavi area and Bhoidapada Naka in Vasai (east). In fact, areas of Thane Makhmali Talao, Sion and Hindmata Cinema witnesses waterlogging.

Andheri subway is waterlogged, and services are temporarily suspended for traffic. Commuters are taking hours to travel from Andheri West to the Eastern line. Waterlogging on SV Road in Bandra near National College has caused traffic diversion.

Traffic jams were also reported from several parts of the city, including Dharavi and Western Express Highway. Due to heavy traffic on the Western Highway which connects the suburbs to the main city, scores of commuters were left stranded on the roads. The traffic was diverted through Vandana Tokies (Thane) flyover in Route 494 and 499. Route number 1,4,5,6,7,8,11 and 21 were diverted through the Hindmata bridge.
As per ANI, local train and flight operations, continue to run smoothly and only one diversion around 09:00 am in the morning took place. Though the visibility at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport has been recorded at 1500 meters.
