Mumbai rains are finally back and residents couldn’t have asked for anything more. For the past many days, Mumbai was witnessing mostly dry weather conditions with just about a few isolated light spells of rain.

It looks like rain gods on the auspicious day of Ganpati Visarjan decided to give Mumbaikars a visual treat in the form of heavy Monsoon rains. These rains were widespread in nature and heavy in intensity.

In fact, during the last 21 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday to 5:30 am today, the Santa Cruz observatory in Mumbai recorded a whopping 80 mm of rain which has occurred after a long gap. The combination of good Monsoon rains and the Bappa Morya chants filled the streets of Mumbai with joy.

These Monsoon rains can be attributed to the presence of a low pressure area over Telangana and the adjoining areas. Due to this weather system, The West Coast has witnessed increased Monsoon rains due to moisture incursion over the region.

Now, the low pressure is expected to shift in a westward direction towards Mumbai. Thus, during the next 24 to 48 hours, heavy Monsoon rains are expected over the maximum city. In fact, the possibility of a few very heavy spells of rain also cannot be ruled out.
