July 12, 2022 12:07 PM | Skymet Weather Team

Mumbai rains for the past two to three days had been seeing single digit rains giving the residents of Mumbai a break from heavy showers. However, now, the city of Mumbai has in the last 24 hours, recorded rains over 50 mm wherein Santa Cruz saw 62 mm of rainfall.

Now, today, there may be more rains with just about short breaks in between. In fact, rains are expected to be heavier by tomorrow and may continue on July 14 as well.

This three day rainy spell is expected due to a Low Pressure Area which is over Odisha and adjoining areas. The system is likely to move west northward across the state of Maharashtra, and the convergence is moving well ahead of the system. The movement of the convergence zone has already caused some rains.

During this rainy episode, we can expect some heavy rains wherein three digit rains may be possible. Traffic snarls, air traffic chaos, water logging and even localised flooding is possible due to heavy rains.
