Mumbai rains which finally made their presence felt after a long time have brought cheers to the residents. However, it seems like air travelers are not a happy lot, with this particular episode of rains.
As per reports, Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai had partially suspended operations in view of rain and thunderstorm in the commercial capital. Flight operations had been suspended at the Mumbai airport due to rain led poor visibility.
There have been few airlines which have been diverted including United Air, New York to Mumbai which has been diverted to Delhi. Go Air flight Delhi to Mumbai has been diverted to Ahmedabad
Moreover, 11 flights that have been rerouted so far and a secondary runway 14 has been opened for arrivals.
Along with this, water logging has also been reported in many parts. Moreover, talking about the lifeline of Mumbai, i.e. Mumbai local, Central Railway has been running late in view of overhead wire tripping between Diva to Kalyan. Trains in Western Railways are also running late by at least 10 to 15 minutes.
Rain figures are as follows: Bhandup Complex 29 mm, Gavanpada Fire Station 17 mm, Kurla Fire station 7mm , N ward 6 mm, WS- Chincholi Fire Station 13 mm, Dindoshi Fire Station 13, Malwani Fire Station 10 mm.
These Mumbai rains are expected to continue in the next two to three days all due to the upcoming Cyclone Vayu brewing in the Arabian Sea.
