Mumbai has been waiting for some good rains from almost a fortnight. It has been more than 15 days since the city has not seen heavy rains that it is famous for. However, after witnessing light traces of rains, finally, Mumbai city recorded some good showers.

Within the span of last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Monday, the Santa Cruz Observatory recorded 54 mm of rains, while the Colaba Observatory witnessed 13 mm of rains during the similar time frame. The reason for these rains can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation which was over north coastal Maharashtra.

As per Skymet Weather, now, this cyclonic circulation is fading away thus rains over Mumbai will once again start reducing the next 24 hours. However, as moist winds from the Arabian Sea are blowing over Konkan & Goa region including Mumbai. Thus, scattered light rain with one or two moderate spells may continue for the next 2 days.

But as these rains will be highly localized and will not be connected with any significant weather system, the weather will remain warm and humid with partly cloudy to cloudy sky.

As against the monthly mean of 529.7 mm of rains, Mumbai has till date recorded 125.9 mm of rains. With the prediction of reduction in rains, Mumbai has still a way to go to be able to surpass its daunting monthly target.
