Heavy Mumbai rains have been lashing the city since Monday morning without taking a break. With this, Colaba Observatory has already recorded 3-digit rainfall to the tune of 105 mm in mere nine hours from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm.
In the similar time frame, Santa Cruz too has witnessed heavy rains of 76 mm. We expect, even Santa Cruz to surpass three-digit mark today.
Mumbai has to gear up for some tough times ahead as we do not see rains reducing anytime soon. According to weathermen, Monsoon rains are likely to further intensify during night hours. Thus, we do not see any respite from the ongoing heavy showers tonight. Weather conditions remain favourable for heavy rains to continue on Tuesday as well.
These incessant rains have also kept temperatures on the lower side and the state capital saw day maximums settling at 26.4°C only.

As predicted by Skymet Weather, heavy rains continued to lash Mumbai and nearby areas. In span of six hours from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm, the city has recorded 68 mm of rain.
According to weathermen, intensity of rains reduced slightly in forenoon hours but picked up pace again. At present also, moderate to heavy rains have been lashing several parts of the city.
With fresh Monsoon surge, Mumbai rains are here to stay. Rains of moderate to heavy intensity with few extremely heavy rains are likely to lash Mumbai for the next 24 to 48 hours. With this, we can expect Mumbai to record 3-digit rainfall for the third consecutive day.
Till July 9, the city has already recorded majority of its rainfall to the tune of 638 mm. With more rains in offing, it is quite likely that Mumbai will surpass its daunting monthly average rainfall of 840 mm within first half of the month.

Extremely heavy Monsoon rains continue to lash Mumbai as the city recorded 3-digit rainfall for the second consecutive day on Sunday. In the past 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Colaba Observatory recorded 171 mm of rains, whereas Santa Cruz Observatory had witnessed 122 mm.
Mumbai had recorded 131 mm of rains on Saturday.
There has been no let up in the rains as it has been continuously raining since early morning hours of Monday. According to Skymet Weather, sky is heavily overcast, with rains at many places of Mumbai and nearby suburbs.

At present, moderate to heavy rains are lashing city that are likely to become intermittent by afternoon. But showers would become heavy by evening and there on. In fact, we can expect some more intense Mumbai rains during the next 24 to 48 hours.
Reportedly, low lying areas of Kurla, Hindmata, Sion and Andheri are already submerged in water. Besides these, Dharavi, Matunga, Thane, Bhiwandi and Kalyan are other affected areas.

As per weathermen, Mumbai weather is presently under the influence of two strong weather systems. Firstly, the off- shore trough along the West Coast is active from South Gujarat to Konkan region. Secondly, the cyclonic circulation over Bay of Bengal has now moved inland is seen over South Chhattisgarh, East Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha region. Presence of both systems has led to formation of a convergence zone over Maharashtra.
These systems have infused fresh Monsoon surge over the state. Widespread clouding can be seen over entire Maharashtra. This has already given very heavy rains over Mumbai and we can expect heavy to very rains to continue over Mumbai and other coastal areas of Maharashtra during the next 24 to 48 hours.
