Mumbai Rains

The pomp and show of Mumbai rains have been continuing from the beginning of June. It was after Monsoon made an onset over the city, the rains continued to shower upon the city. With a few lull days in between, otherwise, Mumbai rains stayed and kept on pouring over.

The intensity picked up after June 25 when the capital of Maharashtra started recording moderate to heavy with extremely heavy rains almost every day. So much so that it even created a chaotic situation for the Mumbaikars with issues pertaining to water-logging and traffic snarls becoming a common scene.

Extremely heavy rains did occur over Mumbai in the last 24 hours as well. In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Friday, the Santa Cruz Observatory recorded extremely heavy showers of 93.2 mm while the Colaba Observatory recorded 7 mm of rains. However, a sigh of relief is in store for the Mumbaikars as Mumbai rains are now expected to reduce.

As per Skymet Weather, an offshore trough is extending from South Gujarat to Kerala. Moreover, the Monsoon surge at present is also active along the West Coast. In the wake of these weather systems, Mumbai had recorded extremely heavy showers. Now, as the trough is likely to weaken after 24 hours, so are the rains likely to reduce over the city. However, moderate spells with isolated heavy rains in parts are expected to continue.
