Mumbai rains which had been quite disappointing, picked up pace once again giving heavy rains over the maximum City during the last two to three days.

But it seems like this was not enough and rain Gods wanted to give a little too much to the residents of Mumbai. Thus, during the last 24 hours Mumbai received very heavy rains resulting in chaos all across the city.

In a span of 24 hours from 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Mumbai recorded a massive 163. 4 mm of rain at its Santacruz observatory. Very heavy showers of 107 mm were also recorded at the Colaba observatory.

These weather systems can be attributed to multiple weather features that have been persisting across areas. One of them is the off shore trough which is running along the West Coast from Gujarat to Kerala coast. Along with this, a cyclonic circulation also persists over the Gujarat region which has been feeding moisture over the region of Mumbai resulting in good rains.

Not only this, the depression in the Northwest Bay of Bengal has also been resulting in moisture pull from the Arabian Sea. Thus, the combined effect of these weather systems has resulted in goodreads over Mumbai in the past 24 hours.

The city has been suffering with traffic snarls and delayed locals. People have not been able to go to offices as water logging persists over many parts of the city.

As per weatherman at Skymet Weather, these Mumbai rains are expected to remain heavy to very heavy during the next 24 to 48 hours. Thus, the residents will continue to face trouble due to the comeback of these typical Mumbai rains.
