Mumbai Rains assure arrival of MonsoonThe much awaited Mumbai Rains have finally made a grand appearance. The maximum city had been waiting craving for good showers and their prayers have finally been answered. Mumbai received widespread rain since yesterday morning.

During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Santa Cruz observatory has recorded a good 34 mm of rain which brings the total rainfall amount in June to 80.6 mm. The monthly average rainfall stands at 523.1 mm. As of today, Mumbai stands 187.7 mm deficient during the month of June. However, the maximum and minimum dropped down to 31.2 degrees and 23.2 degrees, respectively.

The suburbs of the city have also received good showers. During the last 24 hours, Colaba observatory recorded a good 41.6 mm of rain, which is the highest of this season. So far, only single digit rainfall had been recorded over Colaba and the total rainfall recorded until now is 61.1 mm. As of now, Colaba is 231 mm rain deficient.

Temperatures also witnessed a drop over Colaba. Currently, the maximum stands at 31.6 degrees, with the minimum settling at 23 degrees. Both the observatories have witnessed minimums below the 25 degree mark for the first time in June.

The prolonged spell of rain, drop in temperatures and the humidity settling at saturation point is surely good news. In fact, this rainy spell surely looks like Monsoon rains. Now, during the next few days, on and off rains will continue over Mumbai.
