After Southwest Monsoon made an onset over Mumbai, rainfall activity did take a backseat for some time. However, soon after, the weather conditions did become favourable for the city of Mumbai to witness some intense and sharp showers.
In fact, a few heavy spells were observed over the city during the second week of June. Thereafter, a lull period of about a few days were seen wherein only light to moderate showers had been witnessed. However, since about June 25, heavy Mumbai rains did make an appearance once again.

Just about a day before, Mumbai had recorded a whopping 101 mm of rainfall, While the last 24 hours only saw moderate rains, the possibility of moderate to heavy showers during the next 24 hours cannot be ruled out.
These weather conditions have been attributed to the low-pressure area which is over Saurashtra and adjoining areas. Along with this, a trough is also extending along the West Coast. Due to this, moisture content has also increased over the region.
With today being the last day of June, Mumbai has witnessed a whopping 520.5 mm of rain against its monthly average of 523 mm. Thus, after much speculation, Mumbai rains are just a few notches behind its daunting monthly target which seemed like an impossible task about a week ago.
