After heavy rains of June 16 and 17, weather in Mumbai has become almost dry and Monsoon rains have taken a backseat. Only isolated light rains were seen in some pockets of the maximum city during the last few days.
However, things are all set to change as the northern end of the off-shore trough which is running from Coastal Maharashtra to Kerala coast has become active. Thus, rainfall activity is all set to increase over the city of Mumbai as well as its adjoining areas of Thane, Navi Mumbai and Dahanu. One or two spells of sharp showers may occur today as well.

Rainfall intensity is expected to witness an increase from tomorrow and is likely to continue for the next four to five days. A few moderate spells with one or two heavy spells of rainfall are likely during this period. However, rain will not be a continuous affair and the intensity of rainfall will vary from place to place.
Thus, the weather will not become dry over Mumbai for at least one week. Temperatures are expected to drop to quite an extent and the day is expected to become comfortable. However, extremely heavy spells of rains are ruled out from the city.
These showers are likely to pose some chaos in terms of travel and traffic. However, situation may not go out of control over the city of Mumbai when these rains occur.
