Mumbai rains are one of the most awaited weather phenomenon for Mumbaikars. Residents wait for those first spell of Monsoon rains throughout the year. While there are days during the Monsoon season when the city of dreams gets all flooded, but this doesn’t affect the high spirit of Mumbaikars.
However, rain gods have been a little too angry with Mumbaikars. The city has not witnessed rains for a really long time now. How long if you ask, well it has been more than seven months. Sounds surprising, isn’t it? Well, believe us, rains have been escaping the financial capital of India for that long.

Remember the time Coldplay moved Mumbaikars with their soul stirring songs, it was on November 19 and it didn’t rain then. We are sure you are aware of the Bieber fever that hit Mumbai two days ago, no rains even now. In between, it did not rain at all.
While the city did surpass its monthly rains of October in just about two days, thereafter, not even a single drop of rain has been witnessed. As per the available data, the city does receive 37.4 mm between November and May, however, this year, there has not been any.
Why, if you ask us? Well, blame the no formation of weather systems. Usually, a few cyclonic circulations and depressions do form in the North Arabian Sea between this period, however, this year, no weather systems were even remotely close to developing over the region.
Not only this, the usual troughs that do form over the Konkan and Goa region have also not been in proximity of Mumbai keeping the city dry as a bone.
Fortunately, Mumbai rains have made an appearance after a long seven months. What begun as lightning strikes have finally transformed into droplets of rain. Though short lived, Mumbaikars will not forget this gift given by rain gods.
