Monsoon has picked up pace over several parts of Coastal Maharashtra and Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. Except for Vidarbha, all other regions of Maharashtra is rain surplus. In fact, since last few days, rainfall activity has remained subdued over Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada regions.
In the span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Vengurla recorded 41.4 mm of rainfall, Mahabaleshwar 25.7 mm, Chandrapur 19.2 mm, Ratnagiri 18.3 mm, Gondia 17.4 mm, Wardha 15.6 mm, Harnai 15 mm,Kolhapur9.7 mm,Aurangabad9.4 mm,Nashik7.4 mm, Alibag 4.8 mm,Mumbai4.4 mm, Akola 2.9 mm,Satara2.1 mm,Sangli1 mm andPune0.2 mm.
The intensity of Monsoon rains will reduce significantly during the next 2-3 days over Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada regions of Maharashtra but isolated light rains cannot be ruled out.

According to Skymet Weather, an offshore trough is running from South Gujarat up to North Kerala. Due to this, few spells of rain are expected to occur over Coastal Maharashtra. Vidarbha will continue to receive on and off moderate showers in the coming few days as well. While cities like Kolhapur, Mumbai, Pune, Sangli, and Satara will witness light Monsoon rains during the next 24 to 48 hours.

However, scattered rains may commence over interior parts of Maharashtra such as Raigad, Dahanu and Mumbai will see subdued rainfall activity after 48 hours.
