Maharashtra Rain post

If we take a look at the rainfall figures for Maharashtra, it is clear that the state has witnessed good rains during the period of August as compared to September. In fact, the varied intensity of rains was observed by the entire state. However, this is not the scenario now.

Though South Madhya Maharashtra, South Konkan & Goa and Vidarbha has been witnessing some rains but they are very light in nature. On the other hand, Marathwada region continues to witness dry spell with a few possibility of isolated thundershowers.

In a span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Udgir recorded light rainfall of 11 mm, Chandrapur 5 mm, Nanded 3 mm, Vengurla 2 mm and Kolhapur 1.5 mm.

The reason for these rains can be attributed to a formation of a cyclonic circulation which is likely to travel from South Odisha to central parts of the country across Telangana.

The intensity of these rains is very less and not much significant in nature. Hence, these light showers have not been able to make a major impact in the prevailing weather conditions over the entire state.

Moreover, the temperatures are expected to remain warm and hot particularly in several parts of South Madhya Maharashtra, Vidarbha and Marathwada during the next few days.

It is anticipated that these ongoing scattered thundershower activities will continue mostly over southern districts of Maharashtra for the next two to three days.

However, the intensity of these light rains are once again likely to pick up pace by October 6 onwards, and thus, from October 7 most parts of the state will start witnessing light to moderate rainfall activities.

Therefore, it is likely that the prolonged dry spells in many regions of Maharashtra will come to a halt as good rains are in offing.
