Rain in Maharashtra increases, Monsoon inches closer

Since the last many days, the Southwest Monsoon was active over several parts of Konkan & Goa and Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. But now, the weather conditions over entire regions of Maharashtra are likely to remain dry for the next few days. However, isolated rains cannot be ruled over Maharashtra during the next two to three days.

In the span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, Harnai recorded 79 mm of rainfall, Mahabaleshwar 74.8 mm, Thane 50.4 mm, Bhira 26 mm, Mumbai 5.8 mm, Satara 2.8 mm, Parbhani 1.9 mm, Nashik and Alibag 1 mm, Dahanu 0.9 mm and Pune 0.7 mm.

According to Skymet weather, at present, no weather systems are prevailing over Maharashtra. Due to the absence of any weather systems, rains are highly localized and patchy in nature over these regions. But a feeble offshore trough is seen extending from Konkan & Goa up to Karnataka and thus,  few coastal areas of Maharashtra will continue to receive light rains.

While the intensity of Monsoon rains will reduce significantly during the next 3-4 days over North Konkan & Goa but moderate to heavy showers cannot be ruled out over South Konkan & Goa the region of Maharashtra.
