July 20, 2019 12:33 PM | Skymet Weather Team

During the last 24 hours, moderate rains and thundershowers have occurred at many places over North Maharashtra, adjoining parts of North Madhya Maharashtra and South Konkan Coast. While other parts of Maharashtra received light rainfall.

Presently, an off-shore Trough is persisting and extending from South Maharashtra to Kerala coast. Apart from this system, a Cyclonic Circulation is also persisting at mid-Tropospheric levels over East Central parts of Arabian Sea off South Maharashtra coast.

Simultaneously, yesterday’s Cyclonic Circulation which was over Telangana has moved North-northwestwards and now lies over Marathwada. Further, this system would be moving North-Northwestwards at lower tropospheric levels.

Due to the presence of all these systems, the southern parts of Konkan coast and Madhya Maharashtra region will receive moderate to heavy rainfall during the next 24 to 36 hours. The North-Konkan coast and Mumbai city will also receive light to moderate rains during the next 24 hours. Further, the rain intensity is expected to increase.

Vidarbha and other parts of Maharashtra will continue to receive light to moderate rain and thundershowers. All these weather conditions would continue throughout the week.

The day temperatures are likely to recede. The sky conditions will be cloudy to overcast.

All these rains will turn out very useful for crops like Jowar, Bajra, cotton, coconut, pomegranate, orange, groundnut etc.
