The city of Mumbai has been witnessing a see-saw in temperatures for the past few days. The month of February has brought in extreme variations as far as maximum temperatures are concerned. While the city observed maximums in the lower 30s during the beginning of the month.
However, there was a drop in the maximums between February 5 and 8. Thereafter, the increasing temperature trend continued and the maximum even reached a whopping 38.8 degrees. While there was some relief on February 22 and 23, maximums have once again begun to rise.
At present, the maximum temperature at the Santa Cruz observatory is settling at a good 35.6 degrees which happens to be at least five degrees above the normal levels. As far as the minimum temperatures are concerned, they are a tad bit below the normal levels.
These weather conditions can be attributed to the flow of inland winds from the central parts of the country. Hot winds are blowing from the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh into the state of Maharashtra. The temperatures in the state are already above the normal levels due to which Mumbai is also observing high maximums.
During the next 24 hours, the maximums are likely to remain the same or settle slightly more than the current maximums.
