Monsoon rains have remained subdued over the entire state of Maharashtra except for few areas, since last many days. During the last 24 hours, Konkan & Goa region continued to observe light to moderate Monsoon rains. Moreover, moderate to heavy rains were also witnessed over Vidarbha.
In a span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Chandrapur 45.6 mm, Mumbai 21.9 mm, Nagpur 19.2 mm, Thane 5 mm, Mahabaleshwar 4.4 mm, Alibag and Gondia 3.6 mm, Parbhani 3.4 mm, Ratnagiri 2.9 mm, Harnai 2.4 mm, Wardha 1.9 mm, Nashik 1.7 mm and Osmanabad 1 mm.
These weather conditions can be attributed to a cyclonic circulation prevailing over North Chhattisgarh. Due to its influence, good Monsoon rains have been occurring over Vidarbha and adjoining areas and is likely to continue for the next few days.
In next 24 hours, a formation of a feeble trough over the state is likely as to which, a slight increase in the rainfall activity is expected over Konkan & Goa region. With this, cities such as Nashik, Sangli, Satara and Kolhapur may continue to receive patchy light rains but only for a short period of time.
After a long break, Mumbai is further expected to see with good Monsoon rains. However, the weather of Pune is likely to remain mainly dry but isolated light rains cannot be ruled out.

After 24 to 48 hours, rains will reduce over most parts of the state. But coastal Maharashtra will continue to witness light to moderate rains but heavy rains are ruled out for the next few days.

Furthermore, districts of Vidarbha such as Nagpur, Gondia and Chandrapur will also settle with scattered light Monsoon showers. Meanwhile, the weather over these districts is expected to remain comfortable in most parts of the state for the next few days.
