It seems that the long wait for the Monsoon in Mumbai is finally coming to an end. As the Monsoon inches closer, pre-Monsoon rains are likely to pick up pace over Mumbai.
According to Skymet Weather, rains are now all set to intensify June 18 onwards. This will be a prolonged wet spell which may expand till June 22.
Scattered light rains will commence over the capital city during the next 24 hours, increasing thereafter.
A cyclonic circulation is brewing in west-central Bay of Bengal, which will gradually move inland in west direction by June 18.
Not only this system will give rains over interior parts of Maharashtra, it will also revive the off-shore trough running along the West Coast, running from Kerala up to Konkan & Goa. With this, intensity of rain will increase over coastal areas of Maharashtra including Mumbai.
With system moving further west and active Monsoon surge, Mumbai and nearby areas will start witnessing moderate to heavy rain and thundershowers by June 20 and June 21.
