The wait for heavy Mumbai rains is likely to come to an end soon, with rains arriving in the city. Slowly and steadily, intense clouding is engulfing Mumbai, with few areas such Santa Cruz and Thane are already reporting light rains. In fact, most of the places are already recording drizzling.
Weather models are already showing clouding covering the nearby areas of Mumbai and are now moving towards Mumbai. Weathermen are now predicting that for the beginning rains would be moderate but intensifying by tonight.

Mumbai Monsoon has finally picked up pace and this active surge is on account of the off shore trough along the West Coast and a cyclonic circulation over east-central Arabian Sea off Maharashtra coast.
As per Skymet Weather, intensity of rains would be heavy on June 28, while they will peak on June 29. Rains would reduce on June 30 but light to moderate rains would continue.
Mumbai has a huge target to chase as average rainfall for the city during June stands at 493.1 mm. So far, the city has only recorded 183.6 mm of rains. We are afraid that the upcoming spell would just bring Mumbai closer to the target but surpassing it would be a tough task.
However, July seems to be little hopeful is likely to begin on rainy note, with rains coming in the first week itself.
