Good rains continued to lash Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra during the last 24 hours. Since last many days, the Southwest Monsoon has been active along the coastline of Maharashtra and Vidarbha which has led to good rains over Mumbai and in other Konkan areas.
In the span of last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday, Mahabaleshwar recorded 44.6 mm of rain, Bhira 34 mm, Harnai 29.8 mm, Vengurla 18.4 mm, Udgir 15 mm, Ratnagiri 13.2 mm, Nagpur 12.5mm, Gondia 11.8 mm, Wardha 9.7 mm, Jalgaon 7 mm, Alibag 5.4 mm, Sholapur 5.2 mm, Thane 4.4 mm, Nashik 2 mm, Kolhapur, Satara and Amaravati 1 mm, Pune 0.9 mm and Mumbai 0.4 mm.
According to Skymet Weather, a well-marked low pressure area is seen over Northeast Madhya Pradesh which is now likely to shift towards southwest direction. Due to this, good rains are possible over Northeastern parts of Madhya Maharashtra. A trough is also seen extending from Konkan region up to Coastal Karnataka. With this, good rains are expected to occur over the region of Coastal Maharashtra.

Places like Gondia, Nagpur, Chandrapur, Jalgaon, Ahmednagar and Aurangabad will continue to receive good showers for the next 48 hours. While light rains cannot be ruled out over Mumbai.

Meanwhile, light to moderate rains is expected to occur over many districts of North Madhya Maharashtra, Coastal Maharashtra and a few places of Marathwada. With this places like Mumbai, Dahanu and Raigad will witness good rain and thundershower activities for the next two to three days.
During the next 48 hours, the intensity of rain over Coastal Maharashtra and Vidarbha is likely to increase. However, places like Satara, Sangli, Sholapur and Kolhapur will continue to see subdued Monsoon rainfall activities.
