Mumbai is famous for many things – Bollywood, head offices of top business, share markets; but the only thing Mumbai is completely infamous for is the sweltering weather. But this month, there has been a complete change in the weather as a chill in the air can be observed over Mumbai.

This is the fourth time in the month of November that minimum of Mumbai has fallen below normal.  At 16.4°C, the city should be shivering as these temperatures are considered to be very cool as Mumbai is a coastal station and minimums today is 5°C below normal.

This fall in minimum temperatures can be attributed to dry inland winds coming from northeast and east direction. So at present many parts of Central India like East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha are under cold wave conditions. So the winds coming via these areas are very cool in nature which has made sure that the temperature of Mumbai and adjoining areas plum below normal.

We expect that the similar weather conditions will continue for another 24 hours over Mumbai. Temperatures may rise marginally, but significant increase is not expected.

Whenever northwesterly and westerly winds are warm and humid in nature comes from Arabian Sea, but at present in land winds will persist for at least for next 2-3 days and temp will be below normal.
