Mumbai rains have revived once again. After recording rains in single and double digits for two days, three digit rains are back over Mumbai once again. During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Friday, Santa Cruz observatory in Mumbai recorded a whopping 115.2 mm of rain.
While the city did not receive intense rains during the first half of the day, rainfall picked up pace during the late afternoon hours. In fact, after late evening, heavy rains continued over the maximum city. In fact, rains picked up pace over the suburbs including Vashi, Navi Mumbai and Thane as well.
So far, Mumbai has recorded 379 mm of rain against its monthly average of 523.1 mm. However, with five more days left in June, Mumbai could easily surpass its monthly rains. Maximum temperature is currently settling at normal levels. Minimums are two degrees below normal.
Now, rains will pick up more pace over the maximum city. In fact, the entire next week will see on and off rains. Heavy rains have already begun over Mumbai and its adjoining areas and these rains will continue throughout the day.
The possibility of a few heavy showers during this period cannot be ruled out as well. Next week will see an increase in the rainfall activity and more three digit rains are expected over the city.
