The city of Mumbai has seen a good Southwest Monsoon run this season. The normal Monsoon rains for the city during the four month period between June and September is 2390.5 mm. Meanwhile, this season, Mumbai recorded a whopping 2978 mm this season.
The Monsoon total was met after July itself since the city saw a whopping 1768 mm of rains in July, almost double the monthly normal. August was disappointing with only 178.1 mm of rain against the normal of 560.8 mm.
September on the other hand was a good month with rains being seen almost everyday over the city of dreams. Now, Southwest Monsoon has officially come to an end. The withdrawal process has also started and it looks like Mumbai will soon see Monsoon bidding adieu.
We do expect a timely withdrawal of Monsoon from the city. The normal Monsoon date is on October 10. In fact, we do not expect rains over Mumbai and warm weather will take over.
As it is, after the withdrawal, October becomes uncomfortable for Mumbai and temperatures see a rise. Such conditions can be expected over Mumbai soon enough.
