Mumbai continues to reel under extremely hot weather conditions, with mercury soaring to new levels every day. Moreover, we do not foresee any relief for Mumbaikars in the coming days as well.
From 33.7°C on Monday, day maximums shot to 36.7°C on Tuesday in the state capital. This was six degrees above the normal average temperature of 31.2°C.
Weathermen predict day temperatures are expected to touch 38°C during the next 24 to 48 hours. If this happens, it will result in unbearable weather conditions for a coastal city.
In fact, such rise in temperature is very harmful for any coastal station as it will be combined with high levels of humidity.
As reiterated by Skymet Weather, rise in temperatures can be credited to uninterrupted flow of hot and humid easterly-southeasterly winds.
Further, no relief is in offing form this hot weather that is very much likely to prevail over Mumbai and nearby area till February 21-22. Mumbai also does not receive any significant rains during February and its average rainfall also stands at mere 1.3 mm.
Thereafter, we can expect change in wind pattern that will then start blowing from northeast direction. These winds will be cooler in nature, that will bring much needed relief over the city.
