After witnessing mild winters from last few days, finally, Mumbaikars are enjoying cool weather in the city. From last three days, people in Mumbai are waking up to shivery mornings.

During the latter part of December, temperatures observed in the commercial capital of the country were recorded in teens. Thereafter, since January 10, minimum temperatures have been witnessing a steep drop, settling under 15°C.

Just when Mumbaikars thought they were feeling one of the chilliest mornings yesterday with minimums settling at 12.5°C, the temperature dropped further. The Santa Cruz observatory, early morning today recorded the minimum settling at 11.9°C, making it the lowest minimum of the season so far. In fact, other regions of Maharashtra are also under the influence of cold wave conditions.

The main reason for the chilly weather prevailing in the city can be associated to recent snowfall over the hills of North India. Moreover, the icy cold northwesterly winds traveling from that region towards Central India is also bringing in some chilly waves.

Due to the snowfall and chilly winds, many regions of northern plains particularly, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab have also observed sub-zero temperatures. Delhi too is observing cold wave conditions.

As per Skymet Weather, now, these northwesterly winds are expected to get replaced by warm easterly and southeasterly winds and therefore, a gradual rise in the minimum temperature is likely after 48 hours.

Hence, Mumbaikars can brace for some cool and comfortable mornings after 2 days.
