After 200mm of rain last week, people had begun to start enjoying the dry spells and stress free commute to work, unfortunately we see that heavy rains may again spoil all your plans.
Forecasts show that Mumbai may receive heavy rain yet again. Though this may only last for another 48hrs. “Today we are expecting up to 40mm of rain in Mumbai city. Tomorrow and day after it may become heavier and record around 55mm and 60mm respectively”, informs a meteorologist at Skymet Weather.
Office goers at Andheri, Bandra , Kurla, Lower Parel, Dadar and Goregoan could face major hurdles as rain is expected to occur in the morning hours, continuing till the afternoon hours.
“People may worry less as the monsoon surge at the west coast of Peninsular India has gained strength, but only temporarily. Rain will be heavy in Mumbai for only two days but will again fall sharply and record below 20mm”, assures Mahesh Palawat, head of the weather forecasting team at Skymet Weather.
On the other hand, currently the wettest and one of the coolest parts of India, central India will maintain its situation for the days to come as there seems to be no signs of dry weather. Widespread moderate rain between 20 to 40mm may continue for at least a week to come as there is continuous development of fresh cyclonic circulations in the Bay of Bengal, one after the other.
Moreover, heavy rain, of 60 to 80mm, for another 48hrs in parts of Vidharbha, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana and Madhya Maharashtra and south Chhattisgarh may flood the streets and disrupt daily life. Raipur in Chhattisgarh could be the only one to heave a sigh of relief as 135mm of heavy rain recorded in the last 24hrs may reduce significantly.
Temperatures in entire central India are already below normal by 3 to 5 degrees and may fall further by 1 to 2 degrees, making both the days and nights extremely cool.
