After remaining practically dry for almost three months, rains are set to re-visit the capital city of Mumbai.

According to Skymet Weather, pre-Monsoon rains are likely to pick up pace after 24 hours. We can expect scattered light rain and thundershowers over many parts of the city on May 29 and May 30.

The upcoming rains can be attributed to the change in the weather pattern over the region. At present, a feeble trough is seen running along Coastal Karnataka and Kerala, which is expected to extend up to North Maharashtra.

Moreover, moist westerly or southwesterly moderate winds are blowing over Mumbai. All these factors combined together will give rain over the entertainment capital.

So far in May, Mumbai has only recorded traces of rainfall on May 22 and May 25, which is a negligible amount as compared to the monthly average rainfall of 12.5 mm.

Though there are only four days to go in May, but we expect city to cover up seasonal average rainfall with this fresh rain activity in offing.

Moreover as we enter in June, weather models are indicating that intensity of rain will further increase from June 4.

Thereafter, on and off rain and thundershowers will continue till the onset of Southwest Monsoon over Mumbai which is expected around June 12 or June 13. June is one of the rainiest month for Mumbai with the average rainfall of whopping 523.1 mm.
